Path Options - Options

Create root folder if it does not exist

If you specify a destination path that does not exist when the Relation is run, this option will allow SureSync to create the destination root (assuming SureSync can connect to the machine the path is to be created on). This option will not affect the creation of subfolders within the destination root; subfolders are always created when needed if they do not exist (unless you have turned on the rule option to synchronize only if destination subfolder exists).

Convert path to UNC format, if possible

If this box is checked, SureSync will automatically convert all mapped drive names you enter to their UNC (universal naming convention) paths. This helps prevent problems when the same job is run from different machines. If the box is not checked, the paths will be left in whatever form they were entered. If you are not working with mapped drives you will have to manually enter UNC paths since SureSync can not generate them in that instance.

Allow copying security objects to this path

When this box is checked, this option will enable the path for the copying of NTFS file permissions, auditing information and file ownership. Otherwise, this path will not accept the copying of NTFS file permissions. This option, by itself, will not cause permissions to be copied, the Rule must also be set-up to copy security information. But if this option is not selected, security information will NOT copy on this path even if the Rule includes the option to copy security objects.

Verify volume changes when history is used

This is a safety feature for Relations that store history such as Multi-Mirrors. If this box is checked and you change one of the roots in your Relation, SureSync will warn you that the volume has changed and the history may no longer be valid. This could prevent problems with copying or deleting extra files.

Copy "Date Created" to files copied to this path

When this option is checked, SureSync will copy the creation date when it copies a file. If not checked the creation date will not be copied. If the date is not copied and the file is being added (it doesn't exist on the destination), then the creation date will default to the current date and time. This option was added to solve conflicts with other software packages that use creation date when processing files.

Monitor folder for content changes

When this box is checked, this option will enable the path for Real-Time monitoring. Otherwise, this path will not be able to be monitored. This option, by itself, will not cause the monitoring to start, a Real-Time Monitor must also be created. But if this option is deselected, monitoring will NOT occur on this path even if a Monitor has been created.
Real-Time Monitoring is a feature provided by the SPIAgent add-on. You must have licenses for the SPIAgent in order to use Real-Time Monitors.

This is an Archive Root Path

When configuring an archive job using the ArchiveSync add, this is the box checked which tells SureSync that the path should be a destination archive.

Delete Archive files if no Rule Applies

The 'Delete Archive files if no Rule Applies' option is related to the ArchiveSync Add-on. You will only see this option if the 'This is an Archive Root Path' option is selected. Otherwise, this option will be hidden. This option tells ArchiveSync to purge files from the archive when no Rules apply any longer. For example, if you were archiving .tmp files and then excluded them from the job this option would tell ArchiveSync to delete all .tmp files from the archive because the rule no longer applies. This option helps keep the Archive clean.

This option should not be used when you have multiple ArchiveSync jobs with overlapping paths.

User ID for FTP or Path Access

If your root path is an FTP path that requires a user name and password, this is where you can specify those settings. This setting can also be used to specify a user name and password for share level security or for users that want different user ID's when accessing different servers. This user ID will not be applied to the Agent. Click on the 'Change...' button next to the textbox to enter a new user name and password or edit the existing one. If there is currently no log-on information this field will be blank.

FTP Profile

If your root path is an FTP path and you require access through a firewall or proxy server, you can create an FTP Profile that contains the appropriate settings information by going to the FTP tab in the Tools | Options panel. Once you have a profile set up you may use this box to select the profile to use for this FTP path. Each FTP Path can have its own profile or they may share a common one. If no profile is chosen, SureSync will use the default settings of the machine it is running from.

Dial-Up Connection used by this Relation

Will allow you to choose Dial-Up Connection settings to use to connect to the path (see your Windows documentation to set up Dial-Up Networking). If you don't need to dial-up to access the path this should be set to (no connection).

Drop connection when Relation is complete

If you have the option set up to automatically use Dial-Up Connection to access the path, this option gives you the choice of automatically terminating the connection once the Relation using this path is complete. If you are running a Schedule with more than one Relation and the Relation after this one uses the same Dial-Up Connection then the connection will not be terminated even if you've checked this option. And if the connection was previously established by a program other then SureSync it will not be terminated.
The 'Path' tab will allow you to browse for a path to be used as a root for the Relation. The 'SPIAgent' tab will let you change options for communicating to the agent for this path.
'Cancel' allows you to leave the dialog without saving any changes you made, 'OK' saves any changes and then exits the browse dialog.
